US production management company Zero Gravity Management has signed Editi Effiong, the director of global Netflix hit The Black Book. Zero Gravity is known for productions like Ozark and Beast of No Nation.
This development is another step in the many achievements of Effiong, whose 2023 Netflix Original dominated the top 10 across 69 countries.
Film Lab Africa Unveils 20 Grant Winners
Following the success of an intense 10-week training, the British Council’s Film Lab Africa has unveiled its 20 grant winners. Among the first 10 recipients of the £5000 grant category are Akah Nnani, Stephanie Coker Aderinokun, and Moses Ipadeola, while the second category of £500 features 10 others.
The recipients will be granted further guidance and mentoring in preparation for the execution of their projects which are set to screen in film festivals across Nigeria and globally.
Guguru Media Partners With Genti Media On Anticipated Voice Drama
Guguru Media, executive producer of arthouse Mami Wata in partnership with Genti Media has teased an upcoming audio drama titled Murder On Space X. This story follows a dysfunctional family caught in a murder situation.
Appearing in this project are actors Jude Chuwuka, Onajite Dede, Sharon Rotimi, and Kanyinsola Eros.
Funke Akindele Teases Another Jenifa Return This December
Filmmaker Funke Akindele has teased another potential December hit for this year. This time though, we are getting reacquainted with the titular character beloved by the audience in her upcoming feature film title, Everybody Loves Jenifa.
Akindele recently teased the return of her comedic character on her social media pages. This comes after 28 seasons of the character’s TV run in the series Jenifa’s Diary.

Alágbède
The film follows the story of a local blacksmith who is on the ambitious journey of making it in life. Directed by Usman Ogunlade, Alágbède features a star-studded cast including Jide Kosoko, Femi Adebayo, Kehinde Bankole, Gabriel Afolayan, and Jaiye Kuti.
