Thank God it's the weekend, and as usual we have created a summary of all the remarkable happenings in Nollywood this week. We have also attached a very long list of films for you to catch this weekend on streaming platforms and even in the cinemas.
Inkblot hit 2024 running with two films Muri & Ko and The Betrayed
Inkblot Productions is set to begin its run this year with two anticipated films. Though both plot details are still under wraps, other sweet details have been teased about the two films in production.
Muri & Ko just concluded pre-production and is headed for principal photography with Biodun Stephen as the director of an ensemble cast featuring Bisola Aiyeola, Femi Jacobs, Kunle Remi, Kiekie and Bucci Franklin.
Inkblot cofounder, Zulumoke Oyibo, will make her directorial debut with The Betrayed. The film features Jemima Osunde, Uche Montana, Gabriel Afolayan, Adunni Ade, and Ibrahim Suleiman.
Both films are coming to the cinemas this year.
‘Grown’ is set for global release on Africa Magic
The Multichoice Talent Factory West Africa cohort’s class of 2023 has announced the release of their final student project: Grown
The film starring Efe Irele in the lead role follows the life of a spoiled teenager who strongly desires to be an adult and wakes up grown one morning. Now she must fight to be young again.
Directed by Ola Jegede and Empress Allen, Grown stars Sarah Obiekwe, Najite Dede, Patrick Diabuah, Bobby Ekpe, Oluwaseyi Akinsola, Ejovowoke Obas, and BBTitan star, Yemi Cregx
The film is produced by Desmond Ebuwa Ekunwe and Nosa Isibor, with Horla Manuvor Junior as the Director of Photography.
Grown will premiere on Africa Magic Showcase on March 2nd and re-aire on March 9th on Africa Magic Urban.
Ben Nwokike’s Insecure heads for Theatrical run
Ben Nwokike’s psychological drama Insecure has been confirmed for a theatrical run. The film centres around the story of a woman bent on winning back her husband but finds herself on a criminal path in the process. Insecure sees the return of Beverly Naya to our screens and also stars Efa Iwara and Benita Akpofure.
The film will be out in the cinemas on March 8
The Silent Intruder Amassed N16.53 million in its Opening weekend
Mo’ Fakorede’s The Silent Intruder, which was released just over a week ago, has grossed over N23.2 million in its first week following an opening weekend gross of N16.53 million.
The Silent Intruder explores the story of Zaki, a successful and attractive sexual therapist who grapples with sexual compulsion and tries to go after every woman he comes across. Starring Pere Egbi, Venita Akpofure, and Uche Montana, the film premiered in the cinemas on Feb 9 and is still showing in cinemas.
